What this site is
KitGrade is a free public directory of SaaS starter kits, published by Compound Labs. There is nothing to buy here: no accounts, no subscription, no checkout, no gated content. It is read-only, and it is free to everyone including the vendors it lists.
What the scores claim, and what they do not
A KitGrade score is the output of a published method run against facts read from public pages. It is a measurement of what could be observed from outside on the night it ran. It is not a review of code quality, a security assessment, an audit, a recommendation, or professional advice of any kind.
The two evidence labels mean exactly and only what they say. We ran it means we cloned the kit and ran its install and build, and the transcript is published. Read, not run means we read its public repository, pricing page and documentation and did not run it. Neither label is a claim about whether a kit is fit for your project, and running a kit is not a warranty that the kit works.
Measurements can be wrong. A vendor moves a pricing page, a documentation site renders its navigation in JavaScript we cannot count, a capability is present but named something our detection does not match. Every figure on this site prints the page it was read from precisely so that you can check it, and we would rather be corrected than be quoted incorrectly. Decisions you make about what to buy or build with are yours.
No paid placement
No vendor has paid for a listing, a position, a score or a mention, and none can. There are no affiliate links, no sponsored rows and no advertising anywhere on this site. If that ever changes it will be disclosed on the page it affects, before it affects it.
Corrections and removal
If you maintain or sell a kit listed here and something about it is wrong, email hello@thecompound.tech and we will correct it. If you would prefer your kit not be listed at all, say so and we will remove it; we would rather have an accurate directory than a complete one.
We may write once to a vendor’s published contact address to ask for a review copy so a listing can be run by us. Declining changes nothing about the listing except that it stays read-not-run, and asking us not to write again ends it.
Trade marks and content
Kit names, marks and logos belong to their respective owners and are used here to identify the products being described. Vendor descriptions quoted on a kit’s page are that vendor’s own words, attributed to the page they were taken from. The scores, the method and the writing on this site belong to Compound Labs; you are welcome to cite and link to them.
The API
The read API is public, unauthenticated and free, and you are welcome to build on it. Please cache responses rather than polling (the underlying data changes once a night) and attribute KitGrade where the data is displayed. We may rate-limit or change it without notice, and it comes with no availability guarantee.
Liability
The site is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent the law allows, Compound Labs is not liable for any loss arising from the use of this site or reliance on anything published on it. Nothing here is a substitute for evaluating a starter kit against your own requirements.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York.
