This ranking scores five things that can be checked from outside a kit: whether the code is still moving, how much of a working SaaS it actually ships, how much a buyer can verify before committing, how it is documented, and how support works. Every kit on this page is a public GitHub repository, and each row links to it directly. Next.js SaaS Starter carries the most stars of the free field at 16,110, though stars are the weakest signal on this table and are shown mainly because people search by them. A repository can hold tens of thousands of stars and not have taken a commit in a year.
The two columns worth reading instead are the last commit date and the number of tagged releases in the last twelve months. A boilerplate is a dependency on somebody else’s maintenance, and an abandoned starter kit is a migration you have not scheduled yet.
